An Owner’s Perspective on Industrialized Construction

Autodesk University

Industrialized construction has become a key conversation globally for owners and developers looking to reduce risk and schedules and increase standardization across their portfolios. Panelist John Turner joins Amy Marks from Autodesk, Nancy Novak of Compass Datacenters, and HCA’s Rob Crotty to discuss industrialized construction from an owner’s perspective.

Construction is often considered an industry ripe for disruption. Unlike industries where change can come from the bottom up, disruption in construction must come from the top down—from the owners and serial builders. Transformational change is difficult to effect with the complex ecosystem of owners, architects, designers, planners, project managers, construction managers, general contractors, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and laborers.

The panelists offer their insights on this trend and discuss how they approach this disruptive method of building, focusing on building owners as change agents.
